Advisement within CUNY EDGE at BMCC focuses heavily on providing students with the tools and resources needed to complete their associate’s degree, but also to build skills needed to attain a baccalaureate degree and/or employment. Academic advisement is not prescriptive, rather it’s a dual relationship between the advisor and advisee, where sessions vary from course selection to managing interpersonal relationships. Academic advisement sessions will allow students to talk to their advisor about problems going on in class or at home, and allow the two to develop and implement solutions to the problem at hand.
