Technical Requirements
Free E-mail Accounts
BMCC provides students with free email accounts.
Students must activate and check their BMCC email account for communications from their instructors.
Hardware/ Software Requirements
In order to participate fully in BMCC's online learning courses, you need:
a. to own or have access a Pentium computer with modem or network connection to the Internet; you have access to this computer 3-4 days a week and for a lengthy period of time; if your only access to a computer with internet connectivity is from your office, that may not be sufficient.
b. an Internet Service Provider (ISP) like Earthlink, Netzero, or AOL that will allow you to connect to the internet;
c. an Internet browser, Internet Explorer (5.5 or above) or Firefox.
Recommended: IE 7.0 or Firefox 3 for Windows; Safari 3 or Firefox 3 for Mac
d. Microsoft WORD 2000 or higher (Economics and some math courses will require Microsoft Excel).
Further, you must be able to:
a. send and receive e-mail
b. open and save e-mail attachments
c. create and send e-mail attachments
d. follow hyperlinks on a web page
e. save hyperlinks
f. create and save documents in your word processing system
g. copy, cut, and paste into a document
