Each online learning course we
offer is the equivalent of the course you would take in a classroom.
Each course carries the same number of credits, covers the same subject
matter, and is taught by a member of the BMCC faculty.
**Students must have a GPA of 2.0 or better in order to register for
a Distance Learning course.
Most courses are 80%-100% asynchronous.
That is, they meet in “real time” only a few times during
the semester, and the rest of the course takes place on the Internet.
But a few online courses are hybrid ,meaning that they are a blend
of face to face classes and time that the student logs onto the computer
web site. Hybrid classes may meet as much as once a week. In both
types of courses, students and faculty log onto the computer at the
best time for them, to complete their work, then log back on at another
time to read what others have written. Online learning is a flexible
and exciting way to learn if you enjoy reading and writing. This is
important: because most classes do not “meet,” all course
material, including class participation, all your work is done by
reading and writing.
A word of caution: Distance learning courses are not any easier
than face-to-face courses, in fact they require self-discipline and
the ability to work independently!
Take this quick "self-test" to find out if distant learning
is for you. |
