Crisis intervention is available as needed by professional counseling
faculty.
A crisis can be defined as an event which places an individual
in a situation that was not planned or expected. Sometimes, these
unexpected events can hinder the individual's capacity to function
personally or academically. Counselors can help by providing an
objective frame of reference within which to consider the crisis,
discuss possible alternatives, and promote healthy functioning.
Here are some examples of possible crisis
situations using statements:
 |
"I'm only 18 years old, and here
I am pregnant." |
 |
 |
"I feel as if no one cares, I have
no one to talk to, and I just don't know what to do." |
 |
"I couldn't deal with the drinking
anymore." |
These are only a few of possible events that can result in a crisis.
If you think you are in need of crisis intervention please stop by
the Counseling & Advisement Center (S-330) as soon as possible.
Confidentiality guidelines will be followed.
