Academic Grading Policies

Title IV Waiver
To remain eligible for Federal financial aid at BMCC, you must be making satisfactory academic progress toward the completion of an associate degree.

For the purposes of receiving Federal aid, satisfactory academic progress is defined as:

Achieving at least the GPA required for probationary status at the college;
Attempting not more than 150% of the credits normally required for the degree;
And, accumulating credits toward the degree according to either regular or conditional standards of progress.

If you exceed the 150% cap or fall beneath the conditional standard, you may appeal to retain your eligibility to receive Federal student aid. Your appeal will be evaluated for mitigating circumstances resulting from events such as personal illness, injury, personal tragedy, or changes in academic program.

If you believe you qualify for this appeal pick up a form from the Registrar's Office, (S-310), then meet with a counselor for a recommendation.
