Good-Bye Hotmail, Hello Outlook! - New Student Email System Goes Live 03/13/12

Dear Students,

The College Computer Center is pleased to announce, that beginning March 13th, 2012 CUNY will be making a major change to our student email system. We will say good-bye to Hotmail and welcome Microsoft Exchange Outlook Live.

While the migration process is expected to take several weeks, because of our large student body, no downtime is anticipated for students during the upgrade. Your email address will remain the same, and you will be able to login into your email as usual from the BMCC web page or the BMCC Portal.
The look and feel of your new Outlook Live Inbox will provide an enhanced student email experience and will be pre-populated with the following information from your Student Hotmail Account:

·All email messages – Any emails in your Hotmail account from all folders
·Folder structure - Any folders you created in Hotmail to organize your emails
·Contacts – Any contacts in your Hotmail Address Book
Please note the following will not be transferred to your new account:
·Messages larger than 35 MB

·Hotmail contact categories/ groups - You will be required to recreate these as distribution lists in Outlook Live.

·Calendar information – You may continue to use your Windows Live Calendar at or manually transfer your calendar data from your Windows Live calendar to Outlook Live calendar
·User settings, such as e-mail signatures and e-mail forwarding

Note: Mailboxes that are larger than 10 GB will be partially migrated. If you have any questions please contact the Technical Support Help Desk.
