This course is geared toward preparing Students for entry level positions in the field of Computer Technical Support.  In this class Students will disassemble and reassemble computers and learn the function of each component, install Operating Systems and applications and troubleshoot common hardware/software related problems. Using state of the art generic Dual Core Pentium IV computers students explore the Knowledge Domains necessary to become CompTIA A+ Certified:

Mainboard Components and Features
Basics of Voltage as used in PC’s
CPU characteristics and Cooling Methods
RAM, Flash, BIOS characteristics and function
Display Devices and functionality
Laptop Components

Tools, Troubleshooting and Maintenance

Domain 2 - Troubleshooting, Repair and Maintenance

Troubleshooting Theory & Preventative Maintenance Techniques

Domain 3 - Operating System and Application Software

Overview of Windows Operating System evolution from Windows 9x through XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. You’ll learn all about Windows Startup Menu, Task Bar and System Tray, Windows Explorer, My Computer, Network Places, how to remove USB Drives, Control Panel Applets, Administrative Tools, Performance Monitor, Event Viewer, Computer Management, Device Manager, Auto Updates, Date/Time, Themes, Wallpaper, Migrating Settings and Folder Options, Network Connections, Printers and Faxes, User Accounts, System Tools, Remote Assistant and Remote Desktop, DOS Dialog/Command Prompt,  System Registry, Recovery Options, Start Up Options, System Files.
