INTRODUCTION TO INTERNET SAFETY FOR PARENTS AND CHILDREN

New York City, January 3, 2008—After a growing demand from the community, parents and students to help protect their children in cyberspace, the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) introduces a two-session course titled “Introduction to Internet Safety for Parents and Children.”

While the Internet allows your children to reach out to new sources of knowledge and cultural experiences, it is also leaving them vulnerable to exploitation and many other dangers as they hit the road exploring the information highway. What do you do to protect them when they more than you do about cyberspace? How do you keep them safe in this revolutionary world?  What can you do when talking to them is not satisfactory?

Responding to this urgent need, BMCC is launching Introduction to Internet Safety for Parents and Children to help protect your children online. Whether you are new to computer or you know just enough to get your work done, whether you own a PC or Mac, this course provides a comprehensive and hands-on approach on how to protect your children online.

This two-session course will begin on Tuesday, February 11, 2008 and end on Thursday, February 13, 2008 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at the Borough of Manhattan Community College Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development, located at 70 Murray Street, 14th floor, in Lower Manhattan. The course fee is $ 89.   For additional information and schedules on “Introduction to Internet Safety for Parents and Children” call 212-346-8410 or visit www.bmcc.cuny.edu/ce
