It is important to set goals for yourself, both short and long term. It has been proven that people who write out their career goals are more likely to see them happen. Be realistic, nothing happens overnight, set goals on a realistic timeline.

Use the Center for Career Development

Meet with a counselor to talk through your career goals and learn tips to take action steps to start learning industry knowledge, the importance and networking and skills needed in your chosen field.

  • You can also schedule an appointment with an advisor

Utilize the information you learned about yourself during Step 2: Explore Your Interests to determine your goals and priorities.


Keep Track of your Academics

Make sure you are meeting with your Academic Advisor to ensure you are taking the correct courses towards your degree.


Passport Program

Career Passport is an innovative program designed to support students in their career preparation and provide an introduction to career development. Through Career Passport, students will be eligible to be entered in a raffle for a prize from the Center for Career Development.

To be eligible students must complete the following career related events and activities:

  1. Attend a Walk-In session- Stop by S-342 for a Walk-In Email and phone number and Walk-In hours. Stop by the Center for Career Development in S-342 any time between 10am-4pm for an initial meeting with one of our college assistants. Contact the office at (212) 220-8170 or careers@bmcc.cuny.edu for general questions.
  2. Create a Career Express profile- Career Express is the best way to interact with the many services the office offers. You can apply for jobs, schedule an appointment with an advisor, sign-up for workshops, and much more. You must create a profile to get the most out of your partnership with Career Development.
  3. Attend a Career Advisor appointment- Meet with an advisor to talk through your career goals and take action steps to start learning industry knowledge, networking and skills needed in your chosen field.

Pick up the Career Development Passport from our office and complete each part of the 8 parts to be entered to win. This is a great way to stay connected to our office and start learning everything you need to land that dream job or internship.
