Women's Herstory Month: Role Models for Girls and Women

March 5
6:00 PM — 7:15 PM
Room F-210, Fiterman Hall

Identifying with positive female characters in popular culture can be a powerful tool to help girls and women "transform" their reality from that of institutional sexism and harassment to one in which they are empowered and self-liberated.

During this event, Jaime Weida will address the lack of liberatory female role models in popular culture, investigate the underlying ideologies behind this lack, and present analyses of positive female role models from classic pop culture (Dorothy Gale, She-Ra), as well as from current pop culture (Wonder Woman, Jessica Jones).

Sponsor: Professor Jaime Weida, English Department

This is a CCT (Co-Curricular Transcript) event.
