What is Rape Culture?
2:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Richard Harris Terrace
In order to understand why sexual violence happens at such alarmingly high rates in our country, it is important to dig a little deeper and understand what “rape culture” is and looks like. Rape Culture refers to a general cultural acceptance and normalization of rape through the acceptance of violence towards and objectification of women. This workshop will include small group activities, discussions, and large group exercises to break down where certain attitudes about women, sexual assault, and consent come from and will aim to debunk rape culture myths.
* This is a Co-Curricular Transcript (CCT) certified activity.
