As part of the Composers Now Festival held throughout New York City in the month of February and sponsored by the Fund for the City of New York, BMCC composers and faculty members Joyce Solomon Moorman, Douglas Anderson and John D. Parran will present original musical works on Saturday, February 20 at 3:00 p.m. in the Shirley Fiterman Art Center, 81 Barclay Street between Greenwich Street and West Broadway in Lower Manhattan.
Moorman and Anderson will present their own work and Parran will perform a clarinet and piano composition of the late Yusef Lateef, a BMCC faculty composer who went on to have a major career as a jazz instrumentalist and composer.
Additional faculty performers will include Eugenia Yau, soprano; Maureen Keenan, flute and Jin-Ok Lee, piano; and guest performer, Mark Victor Smith, tenor. The performance is free and will be followed by a panel discussion.
