A New Course Fall 2014 - Special Topics: Environmentalism and Sustainability in Literature and Film(ENG 350-001)

Are you interested in learning about global warming and how we can make a difference? Do you want to live more sustainably? Can you appreciate urban nature and local farms? Do you want to know more about environmental racism, how our food is grown and marketed, and how toxins affect us? Do you enjoy literature, film, and provocative writing in multiple genres? Then English 350-001 is For You! Three credits. Writing Intensive. Prerequisite: English 201

. Filmmakers and writers raise awareness about environmental issues


. H.D. Thoreau, ,Rachel Carson, Aldo Leopold, Leslie Silko, Vandana Shiva and Yusef Komunyaaka teach us to care for nature and be stewards for future generations.


. The connections between race, gender and social class and environmental justice movements in the U.S. and internationally. Field trips and guest speakers throughout the semester.
