Eligibility Requirements

  • Must have applied and been accepted to BMCC
  • Must have taken CUNY placement test
  • Must be fully skills proficient or require no more than 2 remedial courses across 2 subjects.  If a student is assessed as needing two remediation courses, one must be taken during summer immersion or as a summer course.  Students admitted after summer session has started, must have a maximum of 1 remedial need. 
  • Must be a New York City resident
  • Must enroll full time each semester
  • Must complete all required components of the Summer Bridge Program – including: enrichment workshop, advisor meeting, summer course for remedial if needed and the summer institute
  • Must receive some need based financial aid (Pell and/or TAP)
  • Current BMCC students must be either first or second semester students with 15 or fewer credits and in good academic standing by the end of the spring 2014 semester
  • Must attend the majority of their classes after 3pm Monday through Friday and/or anytime Saturday and Sunday
  • Students may not be enrolled in College Discovery (CD), Freshman Learning Academy (FLA), Graduation Success Initiative (GSI) nor participate in any MDRC Research Study

ASAP Programs at BMCC

All majors are eligible for ASAP participation except the following: Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Health Information Technology, and Paramedic.  Students majoring in the Sciences: Forensic Science, Biotechnology Science, Engineering Science, Computer Science and Science must be exempt from all remedial math as assessed by the CUNY placement exam.  MAT 56 is acceptable.

Selection Process

For fall 2014, student must:

  • Attend an information session
  • Submit all required eligibility documents (proof of income, residency and a completed FAFSA)
  • Meet eligibility requirements
  • Complete an intake form
  • Attend a mandatory enrollment meeting
  • Meet with the Recruitment Coordinator or a member of the recruitment team if required
  • Complete all required component of the Summer Bridge Program
  • Meet with an advisor for course advisement and/or registration for classes
