BMCC ASAP Student Speaks at New York City HallIt’s a fact. College graduates have more options. They get better jobs. They earn more to support themselves and their families. They go on to earn advanced and professional degrees. Become one.
Funded by the City of New York and Mayor Bloomberg’s Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO), Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) is a special program at the City University of New York’s Community Colleges. ASAP at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) emphasizes enriched academic support, personal academic advisement and employment services to prepare students to graduate with their associate degree in two to three years, and either transfer to a four year college/university or enter the workforce with full time employment.
Students participating in ASAP will be expected to follow a modified block schedule for their first two semesters at the College. The schedule will consist of 2 blocked classes, 2-3 non-blocked courses (student’s choice) and an ACE101 (ASAP College Experience) workshop. Students enrolled in any remedial course(s), must continuously take class until they pass, including the winter and summer semester.
• Students will receive financial assistance towards textbooks each semester
• Free monthly metrocard for the academic year
• Free tutoring and other student support services
• Priority registration and guaranteed class schedules
• Personal academic advisement
• Job placement assistance available
• Tuition assistance (if qualified)
All students who have applied to Borough of Manhattan Community College and meet ASAP residency, credit and developmental course criteria will be contacted by mail and invited to an ASAP information session.
