BMCC 1980’s Reunion: Still Lovin’ BMCC and Disco

Nearly 100 BMCC 1980’s alums and their guests celebrated the 25th anniversary of the opening of the college’s Chambers Street campus with a reunion on Saturday evening, April 4th. Old friends re-connected, enjoyed dinner in the Richard Harris Terrace, and boogied to the sounds of our DJ, Pablo M, who spun vinyls from the 80’s.

Yearbooks were passed around, T-shirts raffled off and a gift went to the alum who lived  the farthest  away--  Ritha Chavannes, who came from Florida.  “It wouldn’t have mattered where I was, I would not have missed this,” the loyal alumna said.

A highlight of the evening was an entertaining video produced by BMCC’s Media Center depicting images from 1980’s BMCC yearbooks. Guests received a DVD in their Goody Bags to take home. 

By 8pm the lights were low, BMCC blinking pins were flashing, our DJ turned up the volume and some serious dancing began.  The party turned into a vibrating ‘80’s disco scene.  By the end of the evening, alums were still shaking up the floor with the Electric Slide, and as the party was starting to wind down, people began asking when the next reunion would be.
