Mapping the Future
Recent BMCC graduate Odette Geraldino sees a world of possibility, in the field of accounting.

The Accounting Program is designed to provide the student with a strong preparation in accounting and business. The Accounting Program prepares students for entry-level positions in the accounting fields. In addition, a large percentage of students choose to continue their education at four- year colleges in order to become certified public accountants (CPA). CPA’s can start practices or work in public, private, not- for- profit or government accounting. Upon completion of the Accounting Program requirements, the Associates of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree is awarded.

Weekend Accounting Program

In addition to our regular program, BMCC offers an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Accounting in a weekend format. Students may complete their degree requirements by attending classes exclusively on Friday evening and on Saturday and Sunday. Many of our students work during the day and tend to family matters in the evening and find it very convenient to earn their accounting degree on the week-ends. All courses required for an A. A. S. Degree in Accounting can be taken in the weekend program.

John Jay College of Criminal Justice

BMCC Accounting Graduates may transfer to John Jay College of Criminal Justice to study Forensic Accounting. John Jay is a highly rated Criminal Justice College. Forensic Accounting is the fastest growing area in Accounting today! SmartMoney Magazine has selected Forensic Accounting as one of the top ten hottest careers for the next decade.

In accordance with the BMCC-John Jay Articulation Agreement, BMCC Accounting Graduates can transfer all 60 credits to John Jay. Students will receive an Associates of Applied Science in Accounting from BMCC and a Bachelors of Science in Economics with a Specialization in Forensic Financial Analysis from John Jay College.

The Accounting Department is developing a soon-to-be completed dual/joint degree with John Jay that would award students an A. S. in Accounting for Forensics and a B. S. in Economics- with a Specialization in Forensic Financial Analysis.

Articulation Agreements

The BMCC Accounting Program has Articulation Agreements with a number of public and private colleges in the New York Metropolitan area.
