Dr. Karrin E. Wilks, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs joined BMCC in June 2014 and brings over 25 years of experience leading initiatives in program design and implementation, faculty development, external relations, strategic planning and systems building to the college.
Her achievements have addressed areas that directly impact student success at BMCC, including retention and graduation rates. She has served as University Dean for Undergraduate Studies and worked to help ease transfer across CUNY colleges. Most recently, she held the position of Interim Provost and Senior Vice President at Medgar Evers College.
Dr. Wilks has also served as Curriculum Developer for IBM Burlington Education Services, under the auspices of the University of Vermont/Vermont State Colleges consortium, and was a program developer for a team managing education and training for over 6,000 employees.
At Vermont State College, she served as Director of Academic Affairs, Vice President for Academic and Strategic Planning, and Senior Vice President. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College, and is a graduate of the University of Vermont where she earned both a master’s degree and Doctorate of Education.
She has worked to improve pedagogy across the disciplines, to enhance developmental education programs, and has gained critical experience in the area of strategic planning—all with an eye toward student success and access to higher education.
