Diaz is currently the Counsel and Vice President for Legal Affairs and Faculty and Staff Relations at BMCC. As Counsel, Diaz advises the President of the college and the senior executive staff on all legal matters, particularly in the areas of labor and employment law and supervises the Office of Human Resources.
Prior to joining BMCC in 2001, Diaz served in variety of capacities. He was the General Counsel and Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs of the City University of New York, Counsel and Deputy Commission for Legal Affairs of the New York State Education Department and was First Deputy Director of the Office of Legal Services of the New York City Board of Education. In this capacity he served as Assistant General Counsel to the Chancellor of the Board of Education.
Born in New York City, Diaz received a Bachelor's Degree in political science from Brooklyn College in 1974. He received a Juris Doctorate Degree from New York University in 1978 and is admitted to the bar in the State of New York and in the New York Eastern and Southern District federal courts.
